The 14th ISPS Croatia School of Psychotherapy of Psychoses

Traditionally  place in the  midst of May  the 14th School of Psychotherapy of Psychoses was held in the Inter-University Centre in Dubrovnik, Croatia.  Under the general  title "Toward comprenhesive therapy of psychoses," this year focus was on "Empowerment and Recovery."

The  first day  this School started visiting one new psychosocial institution in Lecce, Italy . Prof Marcello Viola was hosting the participants. As he is very well known psychoatrist committed to the community psychiatry  the psychosocial institution was an example of how should be organised the care for those patients with psychosis  that  inspite of  rehabilitation programmes don't  attain the level of recovery to socialise  during or imediately after   the rehabilitation programme. It was really an excellent example of the comprenhesive care and empowerment of very difficult patients.

Other our guests  from Spain, France, UK and Slovenia, were president of ISPS  Int  prof Manuel Gonzales de Chavez, prof Guy Gimenez ,prof. Mark Agius and president of ISPS Slovenia Marjeta Blinc. From Croatia, besides the organizers Sladjana Ivezic and Ivan Urlic who were exposing „Psychobiosocial model of psychiatric rehabilitation: Empowerment and Recovery“,  Branka Restek-Petrovic and  her  group  of residents in psychiatry  were  exposing their method in early intervention in first episode of psychosis, aiming at  recovery.

Prof Manuel Gonzales de Chavez   exposed two remarkable  lectures: "In search of the 'lost patient': Helping the powerless, helpless and isolated psychotic patients," and "Recovery and empowerment."

Prof Guy Gimenez had important presentations on „Psychotic hallucinations: the dynamics of distorsion of psychotic perception and its symbolic meaning“, and  the  case description of psychotherapy  of patient ewith psychosis  "From hallucinatory expereince to thinking – the evolution of therapy of psychotic patient."

Prof. Mark Agius was exposing  "The recovery model in modern community psychiatry," exposing one British model.

Marjeta Blinc participant  from Slovenia was presenting one very interesting  psychodynamic treatment of one patient with psychosis.
