Local Group News
The ISPS local group Switzerland organised their annual conference in LAUSANNE in may 2009 on the theme « Meanings of delusions ». We were very happy to host international and local speakers of very good quality who gave lectures about different psychological approaches of psychosis: Louis Sass from New York had a conference on « autonomia and schizoprenia » from a phenomenological point of view (phenomenological in the philosophical sens). Vassilis Kapsambelis from Paris had a talk on « the interpretation of delusion » in a psychoanalytical perspective, Jerôme Favrod from Lausanne presented the cognitive and behavioral treatment possibilities. Caroline Maria Christiansen spoke about her personal experience of psychosis and how she managed to make sense of it. We had six workshops where psychiatrists from different parts of Switzerland presented case studies.
The conference was a great success with over 160 persons from various backgrounds attending to it. The audience included private psychiatrists as well as psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses and social assistants working in public institutions, and members of associations of users and their families. At the end of the day we held the general annual assembly of the local group isps-Switzerland, the actual committee was re-elected.

Older News
During this year the ISPS-CH committee met several times to continue the dialogue opened by the first congress in 2007 while we could put together our views on “psychosis and trauma”. Clinical and theoretical seminars were organized especially on the work of Gaetano Benedetti.
The organizing committee of the second congress worked on the theme “Psychosis : Teamwork and psychotherapy” which was held at the Nant Foundation on the 30th may 2008. Many teams from all over Switzerland were invited to make presentations and a hundred professionals attended. Teamwork and psychotherapy was a very productive theme for the group starting workshops and plenary discussions about:
- the way an environment can be psychotherapeutic
- the teamwork opening emerging changes and opportunity for individual psychotherapy,
- the nomadic psychotherapy in different milieus.
A new executive committee was elected including a wider number of delegates from Switzerland. In our plans for 2008-2009, we will organize interviews of patients and therapists focusing on psychological treatments and the working alliance. We would like to use these interviews for research, education and training. The committee will also try to keep up contacts with all the teams working in Switzerland. The ISPS working atmosphere has helped us a lot during this first year and we appreciate greatly that Prof Luc Ciompi, who was made Dr Honoris causa on the same day, came to give a lecture during this second congress.
