The highlights of the last 20 years of ISPS began with the 2005 Madrid Symposium, organized by Dr. Manuel Gonzรกlez de Chรกvez, which led to the creation of the Spanish ISPS group. The main activity of these 20 years has revolved around the Annual Schizophrenia Course, which has been held continuously since 1995, and which next year will celebrate its 30th edition. For the past 20 years, the course has maintained the ISPS's humanistic, psychotherapeutic, and human rights-respecting philosophy, and has featured pioneers and highly prestigious professors, such as Yrjรถ Alanen, Johan Cullberg, Luc Ciompi, Courtney Harding, Jaakko Seikkula, Bent Rosembaum, Brian Martindale, Ivan Urlic, Dag Sรถderstrรถm, Richard Bentall, Klaus Lehtinen, Marcus Romme, and John Read, among others. The course has trained a large number of clinicians in new perspectives on the treatment of psychosis and has generated stimulating and respectful debates, always with the goal of improving the treatment of people who experience psychosis.
In 2025, ISPS-Spain was officially established as a Scientific Association in Spain.
The current President of ISPS is Dr. Manuel Gonzรกlez Molinier.
